Fluffy Dogs is an American 3D computer-animated comedy buddy film produced by Pixar and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film features the voices of Colin Hanks, Seth Rogen, John Turturro, Jim Carrey, Charlie Sheen and Catherine Reitman.
Plot[]
In a world where toys come alive when humans are not present, a group of dogs are preparing to trip to the city with their owners Adam Wilson and his girlfriend Carly. The dogs become uneasy when Adam has his party a week early; golden retriever Marley, Adam's favorite dog and their leader, sends Soldier and his army to spy on the gift-opening with a radio in hopes of calming the others. The other dogs (which include harlequin great Dane Dane, chihuahua Chico, Bassett hound Howler and golden retriever Patty) are relieved when Adam receives nothing that could replace them. Adam then receives a last-minute surprise gift; an Old English sheepdog Hairy who believes he's a sheepdog. Hairy impresses and shows off to the other dogs with his various features, and becomes Adam's new favorite dog, making Marley jealous.
Two days before the trip, Adam plans for a dinner at carnival, where Adam can bring a dog. To ensure Adam chooses him and not Hairy, Marley tries to use a toy car to knock Hairy behind the couch, but accidentally knocks him out a window instead. The other toys (except Patty and Chico) suspect Marley deliberately tried to kill Hairy, but they escape from the house. A furious Hairy stows away and angrily confronts Marley. The two fight and are left behind.
After a heated argument, the dogs hitched a ride on a Pizza Planet delivery truck and sneak into the carnival. However, Hairy enters the barn and meets the sheep, with Marley and his friends in pursuit. A mean teenage boy Dan Fungus spots them and captures them, and takes them to his house, where they encounter his vicious lizard Manoah and his rats.
As Marley tries to find an escape route, Hairy is shocked by a Sheepdog commercial that proves he is indeed a dog. In denial, he attempts to fly, but lands on the ground and falls into despair. After Dan's rats fix Hairy, Dan returns and evilly locks the dogs in cages, planning to kill them, but a thunderstorm forces him to delay the launch until the next morning. Marley helps Hairy realize that his purpose is making Adam while admitting his own insecurities. This conversation restores Hairy's resolve, and the two work to get out of Dan's house. Just as Dan takes Patty out to attempt to launch her, Marley and his friends confront Dan and scare him, freeing them and Patty.
Marley, Patty, Hairy, Chico and Howler pursue the truck, but Marley nearly falls off, climbs into the truck. Having escaped the stray dogs, Hairy and Marley pursue the cars, and the other dogs spot them coming. During the chase, Marley ignites the rocket. As they ran on every vehicles, Marley and Hairy jump off. They reunite with their owners.
At home, Soldier and his Doberman army spy on the gift-opening again while the other dogs waited, Patty has puppies Humbly, Rover, Rose and Pumpkin. Marley and Hairy jokingly ponder what gift could be "worse" than Hairy.

Casting[]
Alec Baldwin, who subsequently accepted the role of Harold in another Pixar film Tank Engines, which was released in 2030, was considered for the role of Marley. Zak Williams, Scott Eastwood, James Franco, Jason Connery, Drake Bell, Bryan Greenberg, Owen Kline, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jason Ritter, Will Ferrell, Freddie Prinze Jr., Austin Leonard Jones, Taylor Estevez, Billy Bob Thornton, Jake Hoffman and Tobey Maguire were also considered for the role. Lasseter always wanted Colin Hanks to play the character of Marley. Lasseter claimed that Hanks "has the ability to take emotions and make them appealing. Even if the character, like the one in The House Bunny, is down-and-out and despicable.." To gauge how an actor's voice might fit with a character, Lasseter borrowed a common Disney technique: animate a vocal monologue from a well-established actor to meld the actor's voice with the appearance or actions of the animated character. This early test footage, using Hanks' voice from Lucky, convinced Hanks to sign on to the film.
Jack Black was approached to play Hairy. However, he turned down the role. In addition to Black, Cooper Murray, Bryan Perkins, Chris Pratt, Noah Alexander, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, James Wilkie Broderick, Joe Costner, Sam M. Fox, Homer Gere, Dwayne Johnson, Macaulay Culkin, Brett Kelly, James Paxton, Jack Quaid, Charles Melton, Wyatt Russell, Jared Sandler and Ryan Potter, were also considered for the role of Hairy. Lasseter took the role to Seth Rogen and he accepted. Before Jim Carrey, Catherine Reitman, Charlie Sheen and Steve Martin were cast as Howler, Patty, Chico and Dane, Seth Green, Anne Hathaway, John Leguizamo and Louis C.K. were originally considered for the roles.
