Throw the issue aside of whether the music included in this list is actually “good” or not. This list consists of inoffensive pop melodies you typically tune out and cannot listen to without imagining it getting periodically interrupted by an intercom saying “John to lane two, John to lane two!” while you're pushing a shopping cart next to an old lady carefully examining her coupons. Right now, grocery store music still plays mostly the same stuff it played in the 90s: soft-rock of the 80s. Mark my words: today's Starbucks music (Norah Jones, Jack Johnson, etc.) will become tomorrow's grocery store music.

Grocery store music:

  • Spandau Ballet – “True” (1983)
  • Peaches & Herb – “Reunited” (1978)
