Welcome to my talk page! I am happy to help in whatever way I can. Some notes:

  • If you have been blocked by me and it is not a block for an inappropriate username, you must have done something either totally eggregious on this wiki (vandalism, personal attacks, or edits not relevant to the List Wiki) or something of disturbing enough nature off-site that it is necessary to prevent impersonation of that account or for the individual behind the account from elsewhere from spreading disruption here.
  • Blocks are thus preventative, not punitive. There are a number of accounts on say Wikipedia who are dishonest, unfriendly, and just have no real business editing paperless encyclopedias and some of these have even called for my and other actually good faith editors' heads, often hypocritically, as a result of their partisanship; however, if that behavior is restricted to Wikipedia, even if verging on obsessive, I reckon there is not much to be concerned about as we do not have things like Articles for Deletion here and so the ability to disrupt this wiki are therefore limited. I will not keep an account blocked here just because I do not like you or because you have it out for me in only one location and if that location happens to be say Wikipedia, I really do not see me ever using an account there again and certainly no time soon, so really, why should I care? No sense granting anyone that kind of satisfaction and not when I am so happy myself these days! Although, it is too bad about Lost, 24, and Law & Order coming to ends... But anyway, as I no longer edit Wikipedia and do not read admin boards, I at least am either unaware of or do not care what happens there. I had to tentatively block a few accounts as a means of weeding out some sock and IP accounts disrupting this and other wikis, but I think I have determined who the actual culprits are by now. I have thus unblocked the others. Hopefully, they have some sense of maturity and decency and will end their fixations on me. I will not trouble myself with them any further. If they do not, but it stays on Wikipedia, where I am not even editing anyway, then 1) they are merely exposing themselves as vindictive fanatics and 2) they are wasting the community's time, but on the plus side it is time they are not spending trying to delete articles, while the good faith editors are actually contributing as before closing my email, I requested any likely supporters of mine not bother defending me since I do not want to unretire there. Anywho, where you are likely to remain blocked is if say your disruptive editing and any unhealthy fixations have been demonstrated to in fact spread beyond Wikipedia, meaning that they can realistically come here, because any misplaced hatred that has taken on such a festering darkness that it is not restricted to one site has to be contained as quickly and preemptively as possible. If you dislike me or anyone else and have not only still had it out for us on Wikipedia, but also are trash-talking us on Wikipedia or worse yet are hypocritically using IPs or faux accounts to harass us on Wikia, then, chief, YOU have serious problems! After all, I have never started an account on Wikipedia Review, nor am I using IPs to play games with old opponents from Wikipedia. I suppose I could if I wanted to, but that is beneath me at this point in my life. If it is not beneath you to do just that here or on other wikis I still edit then I truly hope that such people who would take their obsessions to such extremes are able to get real world help so that they can lead productive and worthwhile lives. At a minimum, you really need to check your list of priorities, because while I am enjoying my real life and as a fun hobby transwikiying, not showing up in arbcoms, admin threads, on Wikipedia Review, and such, what does that say about any who are using their time for such unconstructive frivolities? At best, it is a waste of time; at worst, it is unhealthy obsession. In any event, it is not welcome here. Thus, any users who say dislike me or other contributors to this wiki on Wikipedia and have taken that dislike to Wikipedia Review, emails, other Wikia wikis, etc., i.e. their fixation has evolved beyond just one website, we absolutely will not risk allowing it to develop and disrupt further here and especially so if any of these accounts have either ignored/facilitated such behavior from others or who have an established history targetting specific opponents.
  • Finally, of the accounts that I have blocked, there is one special case where the account was not username blocked nor necessarily fixated on anyone, but rather demonstrated a collection of other bizarre behavior (fascination with sexually explicit articles, sockpuppetry, edit warring, expressions of extreme deletionism, etc.) that there is no realistic likelihood it would ever make legitimate contributions.

Otherwise, welcome to my talk page and thank you for joining us in our effort to catalog a particular aspect of human knowledge: lists! :) Best, --A Nobody 06:17, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

Welcome!

Hi, welcome to WikiLists! Thanks for your edit to the User talk:Angela page.

Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! -- KyleH (Talk) 06:11, 15 April 2009

Thanks! Sincerely, --A Nobody 07:14, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello. Did you mean to overwrite the older version of List of fictional beverages? There are a couple of things you need to do if you copy content from Wikipedia. One is to make sure the original authors are attributed. For example, by importing the full history not just the latest revision, or by listing the authors at the end (like in this revision), or by using the {{wikipedia}} template. Another thing is that the templates need to be removed, and the links need to be changed, either to point to something relevant on this wiki, or to link back to Wikipedia. Please let me know if you have any questions about how to do this. Angela (talk) 20:44, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I wanted to add the latest version. For some reason when I try to upload pages greater than 10 MBs, it times out. Sincerely, --A Nobody 21:00, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Saying hello!

Hi there, I just wanted stop by and say hello. I am a new community manager at Wikia, and saw all of the work you have done here. Let me know if I can help in some way. Cheers, --Sarah (talk 21:47, December 17, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks and good luck with your new position! :) Best, --A Nobody 23:50, December 17, 2009 (UTC)

Flatscan finished his list bot to fix red links automatically

You can now find list loaded with red links, and turn them all blue, having them link automatically to the proper Wikipedia article, without any errors. Dream Focus 06:44, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Okay, thank you for the heads up! Best, --A Nobody 15:53, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

Attribution

Hi, a reminder: if you use content from Wikipedia, you must provide attribution to comply with the licensing terms. There are templates at Template:Wikipedia and Template:Wikipedia-deleted you can use for this (I've just updated them). -- sannse (talk) 16:30, May 10, 2010 (UTC)

I'll give it a try on my next import. Take care. Sincerely, --A Nobody 16:51, May 10, 2010 (UTC)
You will also need to include it on content you have already imported -- sannse (talk) 00:49, May 13, 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I'll start doing that too. Take care. Sincerely, --A Nobody 14:46, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

About the blocks

When you block people, you can choose other times, and then type in "Indefinite". That makes it permanent. Otherwise they'll appear a year later. [1] I noticed it when it came at on my talk page for some reason. [2] Dream Focus 03:34, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

Okay. I think I have got the main accounts that were using the IPs and alternate accounts for disruptive editing here. By the way, on a side note, I not only disabled email from both Wikipedia and Wikia, I also terminated the account as part of my effort to progressively wean myself off of Wikipedia related stuff. Thus, I will only be focusing on transwikying on Wikia or the rare IP edit on Wikipedia at best. Take care! --A Nobody 19:36, May 16, 2010 (UTC)

Allowing non-admins to import

Hi Nobody,

You can get the import ability changed by sending a request to the Community Team at Special:Contact, with details on which wiki and exactly what permissions you want to give to which groups of users. Thanks! — Catherine (talk) 18:46, May 18, 2010 (UTC)

Okay will do. Thank you for the reply! Sincerely, --A Nobody 21:16, May 18, 2010 (UTC)

AniMate

The notice you placed on User:AniMate at May 21, 2010 says that they have inappropriately edited Annex; I've looked through their publicly visible contribs to the annex, and all of those edits were imported. Did they make inappropriate edits which have subsequently been deleted? Jayvdb 10:22, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

p.s. I replied to your email, but it bounced. Let me know if you have a new email address, if you want. Jayvdb 10:58, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
I deactivated my Yahoo email as I never want to be able to relog into my old Wikipedia accounts and thus that is a measure to prevent anyone from being able to re-email me the passwords. Sincerely, --A Nobody 15:12, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I deleted his off-topic and attacking edits as having no constructive purpose; however, I have restored it along with some others so that I can begin listing all of the recent cross-wiki harassment from this and other users. A sample of some of their harassment can be found at this link. Also, if you are the same Jayvdb from Wikipedia, please transwiki the following formally userfied articles of mine to here (I retired from Wikipedia and suspect that my old userspace has probably been deleted, but I would like to work on these here):
User:A Nobody/List of controversial non-fiction books
User:A Nobody/List of unsolved problems in Egyptology
User:A Nobody/List of incidents famously considered great blunders
User:A Nobody/List of characters in Tiny Toon Adventures
User:A Nobody/List of problems solved by MacGyver
User:A Nobody/Creatures in The Sword of Truth
User:A Nobody/Spaceships of Eve Online
User:A Nobody/List of traps in the Saw film series
User:A Nobody/Nintendo Princesses
User:A Nobody/Weapons of Gears of War
Thanks! Sincerely, --A Nobody 15:12, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

Importing & protecting user pages

Hello, We have received some complaints from users about you importing information about them onto their user pages and then protecting the page. User pages are meant as a personal space for each user to create and design on their own, not the local admins. Please un-protect the user pages, and let individuals have control of their own user pages back. Also, much of the content you imported onto them is about disagreements on Wikipedia. Wikia is a completely separate company and site, and conflicts from Wikipedia should not be brought here. Thanks for all of your contributions to this wiki, but please try and make it a friendly place for other users to contribute. Thanks, Sarah (talk 19:23, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

Dear Sarah, the blocked accounts have been using sock accounts and IPs to harass me not just on WIkipedia, but on Wikia as well. Here is a sample of their cross wiki harassment and vandalism:
First, a host of accounts have been attacking me at [3].
Second, below are some specific IP and sockpuppet account harassment of me across at least three wikis, on Wikipedia, and here:
  • From NotAnybody: [47]
  • From 24.233.122.222: [48]
  • From 70.232.42.89: [49]
  • From 78.34.232.74: [56]
  • From 87.79.177.195: [64]
  • From 188.27.277.226: [65]
  • Perhaps the most unhealthily and fanatically obsessed account is one called Jack Merridew who has already received a final warning from Fram: [66] ("How about you don't ever comment on A Nobody again or get indefinitely blocked again? With your past, you have absolutely zero authority to suggest that someone else is "extremely disruptive" and "primarily responsible for creating the polarized I/D schism". You have been warned before to stay away from A Nobody. Consider this a last warning.") And more recently NewYorkBrad said at [67] "I would also emphasize that Jack Merridew should make a concerted effort to avoid unnecessary interaction with other editors with whom he has been in repeated conflict, not only White Cat, and should avoid any actions that could give a reasonable appearance of wikihounding such editors, whether or not that is his intent." Again, Franamax proposed he avoid his fixation at [68] and so did Hobit at [69]. Despite the above and many similar warnings from other admins and regular users, this account has indeed shown up on Wikipedia Review, Meta-Wiki, The Annex (where he dismisses and insults Wikia wikis as being "non-encyclopedias"), my email, etc. You would think after multiple warnings to leave someone alone he would, but he has only intensified his edits across so many diverse wikis to go after his fixated on target. After being told by so many people to stop hypocritically antagonizing someone else, this individual has not only not in fact done so, but increased his efforts and across multiple websites. It is stunning first that someone can obsess so much about another person and worse yet that despite all the warnings that he stop, he has not been reigned in further for his disruption, dishonesty, etc. Indeed, he has repeatedly lied (as pointed out here) about the extent of his obsession and antagonism and has even more odiously tried to pretend as if the attacks from the above are from someone else with absolutely no history with me whatsoever.
As you can see from the above, even with their accounts blocked, they still keep showing up all over various wikis to disrupt those wikis with vandalism and personal attacks. Thus, as the above small selection of their harassment reaffirms any "complaints" are not coming from legitimate good faith contributors to Wikia, but rather dishonest and deceptive individuals with a long-standing grudge that have indeed taken it onto this and other Wikia wikis. The blocked half dozen odd accounts have been behind edits akin to the above for years now on various places on the net. Please do not let them trick you into thinking otherwise as the above IP and sock account edits across multiple wikis reflects, these are obsessed and determined individuals who will follow me whereever they can to attack me as nastily as possible. It is absolutely imperative that we do not permit them to disrupt this wiki any further. Please notice that some of the diffs above include even comments about wanting to kill my dogs. Sincerely, --A Nobody 19:26, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
Hello, I can see that this has been an ongoing issue for all of you, but continuing it here does not help resolve the issue. If users are acting as vandals on this wiki, you as an admin have the right to block them, but if this is about situations form other locations, especially outside of Wikia, its not a good practice to pre-emptively block them. Also, adding in content about this to their user page, is instigating the issue even further. If they are trolls, its best not to feed them. I am going to remove the content added to these user pages. Please leave them, and all future ones as blank. Continue building the wiki, welcoming new users, and try to ignore any older users who are on other sites. Best, Sarah (talk 20:45, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
The Annex has the following on the left side menu:

Import pages Special pages Recent changes

Upload image

Help Random page

Can someone add "Import pages" to this Wiki's side menu as well? Thanks! Sincerely, --A Nobody 13:20, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
There's probably a better way to do this, but here's a hacky way. Put the following into MediaWiki:Common.js (or Special:Mypage/skin.js if you want to be the only person who uses it):
addOnloadHook(function () {
var t = document.getElementById('t-whatlinkshere');
if (!t) return;
var li = document.createElement('li');
var a = document.createElement('a');
a.setAttribute('href', 'http://list.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Import');
a.appendChild(document.createTextNode('Import page'));
li.appendChild(a);
t.parentNode.appendChild(li);
});
Then purge your browser's cache by pressing ctrl+F5 (in Firefox; might be some other button in other browsers).
Hope that helps. Stifle 20:55, May 25, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, but when I tried it, I am still not seeing the import function in the menu on the left side of my screen as you do on the Annex. Also, if you are the same Stifle from Wikipedia, please transwiki the following formally userfied articles of mine to here (I retired from Wikipedia and suspect that my old userspace has probably been deleted, but I would like to work on these here):
User:A Nobody/List of controversial non-fiction books
User:A Nobody/List of unsolved problems in Egyptology
User:A Nobody/List of incidents famously considered great blunders
User:A Nobody/List of characters in Tiny Toon Adventures

User:A Nobody/Creatures in The Sword of Truth
User:A Nobody/Spaceships of Eve Online
User:A Nobody/List of traps in the Saw film series
User:A Nobody/Nintendo Princesses
User:A Nobody/Weapons of Gears of War
Thanks! Sincerely, --A Nobody 18:11, May 26, 2010 (UTC)
The link is showing up for me, which is curious. If it still isn't there for you try pressing Ctrl-Shift-R, then try adding it to Special:Mypage/skin.js. Stifle 09:03, May 27, 2010 (UTC)
I'll import those pages for you. Stifle 09:04, May 27, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Sincerely, --A Nobody 20:52, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
...as soon as I can sort out some technical issues with the import/export process; the maximum import size is being exceeded at the moment. I've also notified relevant parties about the bilateral relations wikia. Stifle 09:18, May 27, 2010 (UTC)
Okay. Sincerely, --A Nobody 20:52, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
That seems to be all done now. There will be templates, categories, and other detritus left over from Wikipedia, but you can probably fix those in your own time. Stifle 09:39, May 27, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you. I have finally had a chance to check these today, as I have been mourning my dog's death the whole weekend. :( Sincerely, --A Nobody 20:52, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
Also, could you please transwiki the following to The Annex Wiki?
User:A Nobody/List of controversial non-fiction books
User:A Nobody/Lamia
User:A Nobody/List of wonders in Civilization
User:A Nobody/Soul Edge (weapon)
User:A Nobody/List of characters in Tiny Toon Adventures

Enough

A Nobody, I have defended your right to import pages here (given proper attribution), and even insisted at length that I won't take action when you blocked users who have never edited here. It's taken considerable staff time to deal with these issues, which should be strictly off Wikia. If you are being trolled, then I give you exactly the same advice as I gave those complaining about you: please ignore it. Move on, do your thing. "Revert, block, ignore" (note the first stage requires them to have actually have done something to revert). And certainly don't provoke others by messing with their user pages (or playing any other games for that matter.)

If you are unable to do this, then you are unable to effectively be a part of this project. If necessary, I will remove your ability to edit here and on all Wikia wikis. We don't have an arbitration committee to argue with here, we have a ToU which allows us to remove users who are disruptive to the project at staff discretion.

I want to be clear here... I'm impressed with the work you are doing here. I like that you are creating a wiki that collates lists from Wikipedia, and think this wiki has a great future. I would love you to continue with your good work in building this project. But I won't allow Wikia to be disrupted by this dispute. -- sannse (talk) 17:34, May 23, 2010 (UTC)

An End...

Five minutes ago, my father and I finished placing the last shovels of dirt over the hole we spent the preceding hour digging for our basset hound. After eleven years and thousands of dollars, we could not ultimately save her from a protein losing disease and kidney failure. I spent much of yesterday, last night, and this morning lying beside her even as she vomited. Around 10 AM Eastern Time, the vet put her to her final sleep as I held her head in my hands, looking into the sad hound eyes, so that the final image should would see would be of someone who truly loved her. Whereas many, many people have let me down, betrayed me, lied to me, insulted me, despite her ailments, she always gave me happiness and affection. When it thunderstormed, she would scratch at my door so that I would comfort her. When I worked on school work, she would nudge me with her snout and then roll on her side so I could rub her belly. No matter what mood I was in, she always wagged her tail to see me. And now, I feel empty. Many of you across various wikis who knew about my love for my best friends, have over the years offered many, many generous and kind words that I always appreciated. So, anyway, today was it. A major part of my life has died, something that I loved as if she were my child. Something that I cared for despite glaucoma and tumors. I have never felt such saddness. Goodbye, my friend. Sincerely, --A Nobody 15:50, May 27, 2010 (UTC)

I'm genuinely very sorry to hear about your dog. EEMIV 12:24, June 7, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you. I am still pretty sad about it. Sincerely, --A Nobody 17:23, June 7, 2010 (UTC)--A Nobody 17:23, June 7, 2010 (UTC)

Isn't there a way to automatically import all list articles?

I'm surprise there isn't a way to search for all Wikipedia articles that start with the word "List" and just export them from there and import them automatically. Might be a good bot to ask for. I notice there is a category of some list articles, 105 of them, at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Lists_of_characters_in_written_fiction and the export option does allow you to add in everything from a category at once. It'd probably be above the maximum size allowed of course, if you tried to copy over all the histories in their entirety.

Anyway, if you could give me administrative rights, I'll help import things over at times. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_characters_with_heterochromia is probably going to be deleted. I think its something of important to children with this condition, who might get bullied, to see others that have it, even if in fiction. Good self esteem building thing. Dream Focus 05:43, June 9, 2010 (UTC)

Hello! I am not a bureaucrat on this wiki and I am not familiar with the technical automated importing feature. Please ask these questions at the following talk pages User_talk:Sannse, User_talk:Sarah_Manley, User_talk:CatherineMunro, and User_talk:Angela, as one of them should be able to help you with both requests. As you can see there, I have endorsed your request for adminship. Best, --A Nobody 14:21, June 9, 2010 (UTC)

Adoption

Catherine doesn't work for Wikia anymore, so asking her doesn't help much. Any way, she would just have directed you to the adoption page, where those kinds of things are handled. Osetc 14:22, June 9, 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I have made the request for Dream Focus there. Best, --A Nobody 14:26, June 9, 2010 (UTC)

You forgot to erase this guy's attack against you on his user page

[70] [71] Did someone undo your deletion? I see nothing in the history. I believe you did block this guy, but his user page still has insults. Dream Focus 19:05, June 9, 2010 (UTC)

It is actually probably best to not delete it, because such edits as those are oddly enough helpful for proving that certain individuals have indeed been following me around the web to harass me. More specifically to this Wiki, it provides public evidence as to why that account is blocked. Sincerely, --A Nobody 20:14, June 9, 2010 (UTC)

Any way to automatically run this everywhere there are red links?

http://list.wikia.com/wiki/User:Flatscan_WP/interwikiImported.js

It doesn't just automatically run through every article on this Wiki. Any idea how to make that happen? All those red links in every article will turn blue. Dream Focus 00:46, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

I do not know. I lack some of that technical expertise. You could try asking the Wikia Staff. Best, --A Nobody 19:51, June 25, 2010 (UTC)
